There are various beliefs, and one of them says that the most “delicious” region in Georgia is Mengrelia. Indeed, every dweller of this sunny country will confirm that the most delicious fruit, tea, greens, cheese and cuisine are in this subtropical paradise. Vicinity of the Black Sea and the Caucasus mountains makes this place exceptionally attractive. In this picturesque part of the country, which is inhabited by one of the most mysterious and ancient people of the world, in 2011 was laid out a high-technology plantation of kiwi “GEMUANI”, on the way to Mestia – a modern ski resort in impregnable mountains of Svaneti.
The kiwi plantation of the “GEMUANI” company has become one of the favorite places for tourists. And after receiving GLOBAL G.A.P. Product Certificate in 2015 within the framework of the Program USAID –REAP, it has become one of the model plantations in Georgia. There is another popular belief, that Georgian kiwi is one of the sweetest kiwis in the world and its sugar content reaches 15 units (for comparison: an average index for kiwi is 10-11 units). Kiwi’s sort HAWARD has taken root in Georgia and is considered not only the sweetest, but also having one of the most saturated color of pulp.
